Before storytime, a little food.
Yesterday I had Mutter Keema and today I had Chicken from H.'s house.
Now, on to storytime.
I realized yesterday, Wednesday, that I had a Physics Wonderland trip on Friday. Now I had booked off Saturday and Sunday (for other reasons), but unfortunately forgotten to book off Friday of this week also, which is because I forgot that there
was indeed a Physics trip. The trip on Friday will be for the whole day, from 9 AM in the morning to 6:45 in the evening. Turns out, I also have work from 4:00 - 7:30 PM on Friday. Are you thinking what I am thinking?.... oops! :0)
Anyway, I had to somehow get rid of this shift. I planned to ask J, a kid in my school, what excuse I could use this time, since J skips work a lot of the time. He works at a similar place to mine, and he skips work to do something almost every other time he has work. However, my dad said no to lie at work and thus not to be able to get out of this one by lying.
I was in a state of constant distress for all of yesterday, thinking what I'd do to get out. I thought there was only one thing
to do: I'll go in and tell them that I have a physics "lab" to do after school, which I didn't do in class because my partner wasn't at school today. Because of this, I can't work after school on Friday; a very simple and elegant story. Any how, it kept bothering me for a long time, because they could say that I should have told them earlier on about this issue, and it would be my responsibility to find a replacement to cover my shift. Then I would be stuck in a dead-end; the only thing I would be able to do if that happened is to not show up for work and then say, 'Fire me! That's the most you can do!'. But I really didn't want that to happen.
Today was a day 1 at school, which means I was off for the last period. I went in to talk to the manager at work. It was E, the restaurant manager. I told her the fabricated 'I have to do a lab' story, and hoped she'd find someone to cover my shift for me. She said it was my responsibility to find someone, and I should come in at ~4:00 PM or later to ask the YOUTH workers if they'd take my shift. I said, "What if I find no one to take my shift?" Her reply was, "Then I guess you'd be making a lot of phonecalls!". WTH??? At that time, J...a, the old restaurant manager, came by for a visit, and everyone crowded around her to talk to her. I quietly left the place, since I knew no one was going to pay any attention to my story then and there. Anyway, I left work at that time, and came home.
Since I had to, I went in, with my dad, to work again at around ~7:-- PM. First thing I saw was L.'s car, which was a hinderence for me, since she is usually not really nice or kind (which is basically the same thing). I walked around for a while, asking Greg and J. if they'd take my shift tommorow. J. was really honest, saying, "Abid, it's a Friday shift; not many people will be willing to take it for you!". I replied saying that I knew, though I still wished someone would.
J. did suggest that I ask L. if I could start later and finish later. That saved my day!
I went into her office I asked her if I could start later and finish later. She picked up the schedule, and said what E. had said earlier; that I'd have to find a replacement. I told her that "I know and I will do so", thinking that I wouldn't be able to find anyone who'd either take my shift or exchange with me. She was, miraculously, extra nice that day. She half-way handed me the schedule book, but as I reached out to get the book, she slowly started to walk up, and asked V. to take my shift for me. He did and all was good. THE END
HEY, THIS IS MY LONGEST POST EVER. NOT REALLY THOUGH, SINCE PICTURES COULD BE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS... THIS IS ONLY 760 WORDS!!
