BS article

I just read this article. It is pretty BS. I doubt some of the things they say are true are actually true.
"But why would we filter information? Considered from a biological perspective, this notion presents a problem. The idea that we have an evolved tendency to deprive ourselves of information ...[is] biologically disadvantageous."
I think that it really is. Why would we filter information from ourselves? I don't believe this article.

Weekend

This past weekend was a long weekend, because Monday was Victoria Day.

Neighbors around us are very busy roasting their meats and firing up thier barbeque grills. My mom, thinking we should do the same, decided to bring up our rusty unused barbeque too. So, on Sunday, we had barbeque as a family in the back yard/porch! We made kababs and barbeque chicken, both with the good barbeque-coal taste baked right in.

On Sunday also, we went to downtown Toronto, where my parents decided to buy a caremboard just for fun. Pictures of these events coming soon.

Mom's back

I will be taking and posting some pictures soon again, since my mom is back from Pakistan, with the camera. She also bought some movies (on DVD!) and other goodies (like candy, clothes, books, etc.)! There are a lot of pics from the wedding also!

Uni.

For dinner I had a mush, a mixture of potato cream and tuna mixed with some fried peas. Interesting, eh?

Yesterday Wonderland was pretty fun and it got me 30 minutes late for work ;). No one cared though. We did a lot of things in WL, going on a bunch of rides.

Today I went to McMaster University, which was pretty exciting, seeing the university I'll be going to and all. The University had a better impression on me than UTM had, since it was pretty vintage, compared with UTM which was pure old. I got a bagfull of information on things like Residence, commuting and etc.

Story time kids!

Before storytime, a little food.
Yesterday I had Mutter Keema and today I had Chicken from H.'s house.
Now, on to storytime.

I realized yesterday, Wednesday, that I had a Physics Wonderland trip on Friday. Now I had booked off Saturday and Sunday (for other reasons), but unfortunately forgotten to book off Friday of this week also, which is because I forgot that there was indeed a Physics trip. The trip on Friday will be for the whole day, from 9 AM in the morning to 6:45 in the evening. Turns out, I also have work from 4:00 - 7:30 PM on Friday. Are you thinking what I am thinking?.... oops! :0)
Anyway, I had to somehow get rid of this shift. I planned to ask J, a kid in my school, what excuse I could use this time, since J skips work a lot of the time. He works at a similar place to mine, and he skips work to do something almost every other time he has work. However, my dad said no to lie at work and thus not to be able to get out of this one by lying.
I was in a state of constant distress for all of yesterday, thinking what I'd do to get out. I thought there was only one thing to do: I'll go in and tell them that I have a physics "lab" to do after school, which I didn't do in class because my partner wasn't at school today. Because of this, I can't work after school on Friday; a very simple and elegant story. Any how, it kept bothering me for a long time, because they could say that I should have told them earlier on about this issue, and it would be my responsibility to find a replacement to cover my shift. Then I would be stuck in a dead-end; the only thing I would be able to do if that happened is to not show up for work and then say, 'Fire me! That's the most you can do!'. But I really didn't want that to happen.
Today was a day 1 at school, which means I was off for the last period. I went in to talk to the manager at work. It was E, the restaurant manager. I told her the fabricated 'I have to do a lab' story, and hoped she'd find someone to cover my shift for me. She said it was my responsibility to find someone, and I should come in at ~4:00 PM or later to ask the YOUTH workers if they'd take my shift. I said, "What if I find no one to take my shift?" Her reply was, "Then I guess you'd be making a lot of phonecalls!". WTH??? At that time, J...a, the old restaurant manager, came by for a visit, and everyone crowded around her to talk to her. I quietly left the place, since I knew no one was going to pay any attention to my story then and there. Anyway, I left work at that time, and came home.
Since I had to, I went in, with my dad, to work again at around ~7:-- PM. First thing I saw was L.'s car, which was a hinderence for me, since she is usually not really nice or kind (which is basically the same thing). I walked around for a while, asking Greg and J. if they'd take my shift tommorow. J. was really honest, saying, "Abid, it's a Friday shift; not many people will be willing to take it for you!". I replied saying that I knew, though I still wished someone would. J. did suggest that I ask L. if I could start later and finish later. That saved my day!
I went into her office I asked her if I could start later and finish later. She picked up the schedule, and said what E. had said earlier; that I'd have to find a replacement. I told her that "I know and I will do so", thinking that I wouldn't be able to find anyone who'd either take my shift or exchange with me. She was, miraculously, extra nice that day. She half-way handed me the schedule book, but as I reached out to get the book, she slowly started to walk up, and asked V. to take my shift for me. He did and all was good. THE END

HEY, THIS IS MY LONGEST POST EVER. NOT REALLY THOUGH, SINCE PICTURES COULD BE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS... THIS IS ONLY 760 WORDS!!

H

For lunch I had mac & cheese

H. auntie gave some spicy but otherwise really tasty chicken as a "gift" today.
That was dinner.

Also, this week's work shifts are really nice! Only Friday 4:00 - 7:30 PM; that's all!!! One shift and it's nice also! Jf., Pr., Dan and many other chilling people are working that also... Hopefully, I'll be doing nothing (specially if Ry. is there!). The lone shift is there because I booked off Saturday and Sunday, as I am going to McMaster for an open house that day.

Interpreter

Yesterday morning, I ate the regular breakfast, along with eggs. After having breakfast, I left with my dad and brother to go to the Silvercity movie theaters in Brampton to watch The Interpreter.

The movie was pretty nice, for a drama. It had a pretty involved and deep story line, though the characters were a bit unbelievable at times. There were some plot holes and it felt a little too coincidental at times, though overall it was pretty nicely put together. The story was kind of different from anything I had seen, though one bad thing is that it really built up the action in the begininng, only to learn at the end that it wasn't really going to deliver any great thrills.

After the movie, I had lunch at Popeyes, eating Chicken Strips as usual. Unfortunately, I tried barbeque sauce this time, which turned out to be not-so-great :( . Also, I got french fries, which were pretty cool!

At night, after coming home from work at 9 PM, I went to N. Aunti's house. There was biryani for dinner there.

Today, I had the regular breakfast and had work from 5 - 9 PM. For dinner, I had buns with kabab.
