Fish and Doorknobs
I am not a big fan of releasing my picture onto the internet. See this image, for example ;). But I decided that since this picture turned out better than I thought, I'd put it up. It was taken from two opposite angles on a doorknob. The first picture had me at the right hand side and the camera at the left hand side and the second image had me to the left and the camera to the right. After taking these two pictures, I put them in Corel Photopaint and used the Color Addition feature to mix the two images. However, one of the two images had to be flipped horizontally, to make it fit correctly on top of the other. Plus, I needed to rotate and resize the images so that they fit (more or less) perfectly on top of each other. I tried making the top image a little opaque or transparent, but that didn't work out as well as I had planned. So this is what came out after a couple minutes (maybe 20) of playing around in Photopaint.

Halo
Just an image of I don't know what that I took in early December. I was sifting through some of the pictures on my hard drive, and this one struck me as being interesting because I didn't know what this is of. This image is actually a crop of the whole picture, which contains some other variations of green and black.

A Mission In Snow
It was a mission, but I did it. I trudged through at least four feet of soft packed snow and got to my back yard through the side entrance of my house! It was hard, but I had the camera along with me for the ride to take some pictures. Actually, I had intended to go there a while ago because there was an interesting ice formation on the wall (I saw it a week ago) at the back of the house, and I had wanted to photograph that. Today was a day off for me, and I finally decided to go and look for that ice formation that I had seen. I couldn't find it because it was buried deep in the snow we had over this week, but I brought my camera along and had to take some pictures.:) Click on images to view a larger version.
An interesting shot of a snow covered bag. It looked more pleasant in real life than in this picture, but this is one of the best I got of it.
This is a shot of the frozen ice. The full high resolution image looks really nice. You have to view the bigger image by clicking on this one above to get a feel for the full size one. THe full size image is double the size of the one that shows up when you click on this. This shot captures some of the details of the ice really well.

New Bed
Here are some pictures of the new bed I got from Ikea. As I earlier posted, the bed is the Robin model, with the Sultan Forsbacka mattress to go along with it. The matress is really comfortable and thick, which is nice because my old mattress wasn't. It is a foam mattress, which means that it doesn't bounce as well as some of the other ones, but...
Here are the pics:
It wasn't easy to stuff the mattress and the bed into the car, but it had to be done. The trunk was filled to complete capacity when the mattress was in there. The bed rode in the front.
Making the Robin was easy, just like all Ikea furniture. Basically it was about screwing four pieces of wood together. This was taken just as the box was opened.
And how can any series of martress pictures be complete without the classic?
"Do not remove under penalty of law".
Why? This is taken from Yahoo Ask.
"Back in the 1900s, mattresses often contained a host of vermin and disease-carrying materials. To protect consumers, the government required dealers to post tags on their mattresses listing the contents. Later, the Feds added a warning to the content tag with the ominous message, "Do not remove under penalty of law," in big, black letters.
The move may have deterred duplicitous mattress dealers, but it only served to confuse consumers who didn't know that the threat wasn't meant for them. Confronted by fear of prosecution, consumers left the tags on their mattresses. Recently, the Feds addressed the misunderstanding by changing the label to: 'This tag may not be removed except by the consumer.'"

Ikea
Some of the things from my wishlist were cleared up today, including a new bed! I went to Ikea with my parents today to buy a new bed. My old bed and mattress was giving me some back problems and I didn't want to sleep on it any longer. I bought a new mattress, a cool white lamp and Robin bed. Pictures of both items coming soon. It snowed madly today, and I also have some pictures of that which I plan to upload later today.

Subway
This is a picture taken by Sam, someone who lives in downtown Toronto. He is a professional photographer and he takes one picture daily and updates it on his photoblog every day. His pictures are really nice quality and composition; some of them have really inspired me.
Sam's main website is topleftpixel. It's called the Daily Dose of Imagery. I highly recommend visiting it. When there, be sure to look at the archives of old pictures. Some are really good. I love the bagel poppy seed picture; my favorite of all his pictures.

iPod Flash
The much hyped about iPod Flash (my blog post in November about it) is finally out. It is dubbed, the iPod Shuffle (website). I thought that this would make for a good gift for my brother's birthday in March. Turns out that the lack of a screen is downright poor. It's at an interesting price point though, $100US for the 512 MB and $150US for the 1 GB edition. I am not buying it though.
Hard week
This week will be hard.
Above is a picture showing the quick chicken-scrawling I did to plan out the week. Though it might not be clearly visible, this "table" shows two columns. The left one shows the days of the week and on the right one has the work needed to be doe that day. I don't know how I am going to do this :lost: Click on image to see larger version.

Kinkos
A quick snapshot of the local Kinkos at Mississauga CAN Hurontario St where I went today to copy some documents. With the rate of one copy being 10 cents, I went to Staples Business Depot instead. Click on image for a slightly larger version.

Website Done
My website is now fully done with custom HTML code!!! YAY! Visit here.
It took a long time, and it was boring indeed, but file sizes have been reduced almost by 75% in some cases. I had to completely rewrite each page from scratch. Word made some nasty HTML code :(. Some pages have gotten new content and some others have gotten just simple a facelift and almost all pages have gotten pictures. Most of these pictures were custom-made on Photopaint 11 from Corel (website).
Second thing that got changed was the sidebar or navigation panel. It looked very ugly before and had too many links in it to be useful. Now it is much more cleaned up and only contains vital links to areas of my site.
Also, I am currently learning JavaScript and ActiveX (which doesn't work on Firefox) which I hope to include in my pages. There is already a basic browser check on the first home page, which just checks to see if the browser is IE or not. Not very useful.
Lastly, if you still want to visit my old site, it will still be up for a while, though any links will not work (so you have to know the absolute address of the page to go to it). It is the same address as before but just the folder 'Bckup' was added. That is, the address for the old homepage is www.geocities.com/abidhasan@rogers.com/Bckup/index.html

HTML
I have been converting my website (link) to plain HTML from the HTML that Microsoft Word had generated. The HTML Word made was not only really poor, but also inefficient. Also, Word doesn't allow you to place remotely-linked images in an HTML file, meaning that to place any image in a Word-generated HTML file, they have to be hosted on my server (Geocities). This is a time consuming process, and one that has to be completely done by hand.:-(
